Terms of Service

These terms cover the Free Beta of StoneReason’s XRPC API. They are deliberately short and specific to what this deployment actually does.

Operator and legal review required before launch. This document is drafted to describe the service accurately. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and the fields marked [REVIEW] below need a decision by the operator before it can be relied on. Publishing it unreviewed would be asserting things nobody has checked.

1. Who these terms are between

[REVIEW] The legal entity offering this service, its registered name, its company number and its registered address are not stated here, because inventing them would be worse than omitting them. An operator must supply them before this document is relied upon.

“You” means the person or organization that created an account.

2. What is being offered

Access to an API that reads public blockchain data and watches for payments to addresses you control. What is available is listed on Products and generated from the running deployment rather than described here, so that this document cannot promise something the service does not do.

3. This is a Free Beta

4. Your account

5. Acceptable use

The Acceptable Use Policy is part of these terms. In short: do not attack the service, do not use it to attack anybody else, and do not use it for activity that is illegal where you are.

6. What StoneReason does not do

7. Liability

[REVIEW] The limitation of liability, the warranty disclaimer and their interaction with consumer protection law where you are located require legal review and a decision about governing law. No limitation is asserted here, because asserting one that has not been reviewed would be both unenforceable and dishonest.

What can be said plainly now: this is a free beta service provided as-is, with no warranty of accuracy, availability or fitness for any purpose.

8. Ending it

You may close your account at any time from the dashboard. We may suspend or close an account that breaches the Acceptable Use Policy or that is damaging the service for others; where that happens you will be told which, unless telling you would itself be a problem.

9. Governing law and disputes

[REVIEW] Not stated. Governing law and jurisdiction follow from the legal entity in section 1, which is not yet fixed.

10. Changes to these terms

Material changes will be published on this page and noted in the changelog before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that is acceptance.
